BYD and Fronius have been cooperating successfully since 2017. The partners provide customers in the European and Australian market with highly efficient energy and energy storage solutions for both residential and light commercial applications. Together, the BYD Battery-Box Storage system and the Fronius Symo Hybrid inverter offer maximum independence with a three-phase emergency power supply. The combination of BYD’s Battery-Box storage system with the Symo GEN24 Plus inverter enabled Fronius to secure the 2020 Intersolar AWARD. In addition to the inverter’s features, such as simple installation and commissioning, its sustainable service concept, as well as demand-oriented back-up power variants and the innovative active cooling concept, the expert jury was impressed by the maximum system efficiency in conjunction with the BYD Battery-Box high-voltage storage system.
“We value Fronius as a longstanding partner with high expertise and quality standards”, said Julia Chen, Global Director BYD Battery-Box. “With the added functionality of the Battery-Box Premium line in combination with Fronius’s inverter solutions, we can provide customers with a solution combination that covers even more applications – including on- and off-grid projects, backup and emergency power supply.”
“The Battery-Box Premium does not only ensure a high energy storage efficiency for our clients. The system’s modular design and wide range of functions also provides the flexibility to cover a broad range of project seizes that customers can scale up at any time by adding more modules or systems”, said Martin Hackl, Global Director of Solar Energy at Fronius International GmbH. “We are delighted to pursue our partnership with BYD as they continue to invest into the functionality of future-oriented energy storage solutions.”

The latest Battery-Box Premium generation adds additional functionality to the popular modular storage system. The system is based on BYD’s lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) technology for maximum safety, life cycles and power while it meets the toughest industry standards, such as the VDE-AR-E 2510-50 safety standard.
The systems support parallel connection without the need of an additional communication device, and are therefore even more flexible and scalable, covering an even wider range of application scenarios. All models are capable of high-powered emergency-backup and feature both on- and off-grid functionality. The systems also feature the patented modular plug design and do not require any internal wiring, thus allowing maximum flexibility and ease of use. Combined with the improved design and locking mechanism this makes installation even easier and shortens installation times. The system’s internet connectivity, and an App, help to simplify set-up, software-updates and monitoring. The high-voltage Premium line offers two models to cover the complete range of system sizes:
Each Battery-Box Premium HVM system is composed of up to 8 HVM battery modules with 2.76kWh each that are connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of up to 22.1kWh. A connection of up to three identical Battery-Box Premium HVM allows a maximum capacity of 66.2 kWh.
Each Battery-Box Premium HVS system is composed of 2 to 5 HVS battery modules that are connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of 5.1 to 12.8 kWh. A connection of up to three identical Battery-Box Premium HVS allows a maximum capacity of 38.4 kWh.
The Fronius inverter line Symo Hybrid is compatible with the Battery-Box Premium models HVM 8.3 / 11.0 / 13.8 / 16.6 / 19.3 and 22.1 kWh.
The Symo GEN24 Plus inverter line will be compatible with the Battery-Box Premium models HVS 5.1 / 7.7 and 10.2 kWh as well as Battery-Box Premium HVM 11.0 / 13.8 / 16.6 / 19.3 and 22.1.
