The B LM, responsible for the conservation and management of U.S. public lands and resources, finally accepts solar applications after criticism by the public.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), is now accepting additional applications for solar energy projects to "help meet growing interest in renewable energy sources", according to BLM Director James Caswell. Previously, the BLM had suspended the solar applications for U.S. alternative energy development, because it was awaiting the completion of the programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS), which evaluates the environmental impacts of the utility-scale solar energy agency programs. But due to public demand, the BLM, in addition to the 125 other submitted applicants, will accept additional applications for solar energy projects to develop on public land.
