Drivers in the Ft. Madison, Iowa, area will now have access to biodiesel after Sinclair Oil Corp. officially announced the company will offer REG-9000 dyed and clear biodiesel blends at its Ft. Madison blending terminal. The terminal will also provide an alternative for petroleum distributors in Illinois and Missouri.
In addition to the new Iowa terminal, Sinclair also has blending terminals in 10 other upper Midwest locations. "Sinclair has a long history of providing business solutions for petroleum distributors and retailers," said Jack Barger, vice president of marketing and supply for Sinclair, on the announcement. "Offering biodiesel blends at the Ft. Madison, Iowa, terminal is an important step in moving our refining and petroleum distribution businesses forward in meeting the renewable fuel standard."
Sinclair operates two oil refineries, one sized at 25,000 barrels per day facility in Casper, Wyo., and another at 75,000 barrels per day in Rawlins, Wyo., (and also owns the Grand American Hotel chain, the Little American Hotel chain, and two ski resorts in Idaho and Utah). The company, founded in 1916 by Harry Sinclair, is headquartered in Salt Lake City.
On the partnership with REG to use the ASTM-certified REG-9000 B100 blend at the terminals, Barger added that Sinclair is "pleased to partner with Renewable Energy Group," because REG "is committed to biodiesel quality and has a long-standing reputation for service to the petroleum industry."
