Chandigarh, May 04 The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has sanctioned 15 solar power plants of 1 kilo watt power each in 13 sub-divisions of DHBVN, Sirsa and in two sub-divisions of DHBVN, Faridabad. This step would help to meet the power requirements, besides creating awareness among the masses about the generation of power through solar photovoltaic technology.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said by using one such power plant, two T-5 Retrofit Tubelights of 28 watt, 10 tubelights of 20 watt CFLs and 6 ceiling fans could be operated in each sub-division office for four hours daily. The total cost of the project is about Rs 52.5 lakh, on which MNRE and the Centre would provide a subsidy of Rs 18.75 lakh and the remaining amount of Rs 33.75 lakh would be borne by DHBVN, Sirsa and Faridabad districts. This project would be completed by October 31.
Solar photovoltaic technology is being used for directly converting solar energy into electrical energy by using solar silicon cells. The electricity generated could be utilised for different applications directly or through battery storage system. Solar PV has found wide application in rural as well as urban areas for various important activities, besides lighting and running electrical appliances.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy had launched a scheme to demonstrate and promote solar photovoltaic devices in urban areas. The main objective for promoting and demonstrating solar photovoltaic devices in urban areas was to demonstrate effective alternative solution for community and institutional low power solar-based systems in urban areas. The main aim of the MNRE was to create awareness about the benefits of solar photovoltaic devices in urban areas and also to reduce the burden on conventional energy in cities and towns, besides diverting the saved energy to small towns and villages.
