The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited bids to install 2 MW of rooftop solar systems at Mumbai Monorail Project stations and sites.
The scope of work includes site survey, investigation, design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of rooftop solar systems. After commissioning these projects, the successful bidder must provide comprehensive operations and maintenance (O&M) services for 25 years.
The project is estimated to cost ?78.16 million (~$1.04 million).
The last date to submit bids is January 19, 2022. Bids will be opened the next day.
The project will be implemented under the renewable energy service company (RESCO) model. Under the RESCO model, the developer owns the solar project, and the consumer only has to pay for the energy generated.
Bidders have to pay a tender fee of ?3,540 (~$47). The successful bidder will have to submit ?2.34 million (~$31,334) or 3% of the contract value, whichever is higher, as a security deposit.
Bidders who have previous experience working with metro-monorail railways, central government public sector undertakings, the Airports Authority of India, or central or state government agencies can participate in the bid.
In the last few years, many metro projects across India have installed ground-mounted and rooftop solar projects at stations and depots. Last year, the Chennai Metro issued bids to procure solar, wind, and hybrid power from captive group projects.
In February 2020, MMRDA had floated a tender for 4.43 MW of rooftop solar projects at the Mumbai Metro Rail Project station site. In December 2018, it also tendered 2 MW of rooftop solar projects at Mumbai monorail stations and sites.
Previously, Mercom reported that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority issued a tender for 7.63 MW of rooftop solar PV projects at the Mumbai Metro Rail project lines 7 and 2A. The project was to be developed under the RESCO model.
Mumbai Metro One, promoted by Reliance Infrastructure, commissioned a 612-kW rooftop solar power installation at its D.N. Nagar depot.
