Wind turbine towers to be built in Ontario for Vestas

Towers for wind turbines destined for Vestas's Ontario wind projects will be manufactured by CS Wind in Ontario .

Essar Steel Algoma in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, will provide the steel. The CS Wind facility will roll, form, shape and weld together steel sheets for the towers. The factory  is expected to deliver its first tower to Vestas in November 2011.

Renewable energy equipment providers such as Vestas face local-content requirements in Ontario. Vestas had its first wind turbine installed in Ontario in 2001. Vestas has 232 turbines in operation in the province for a total of 390 MW.
