Wind energy project to use Sargent & Lundy for transmission construction

Goldwind USA hired Sargent & Lundy LLC to provide electrical engineering, design and procurement services for the 109.5 MW Shady Oaks Wind Farm Project in Illinois. The project will use 71 Goldwind permanent magnet direct drive turbines.

Sargent & Lundy will provide engineering and procurement services for the 138/34.5 kV substation, the 138 kV interconnection switchyard and the cut-in of the existing Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) transmission line.

Energy from the project will be sold under a 20-year off-take agreement with ComEd through the Illinois Power Agency's long term procurement plan. The project is scheduled to be in service by the end of 2011.
