Solar energy modules set for India projects

The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) is providing a $16 million long-term loan to support exports of Arizona-based First Solar Inc. to Azure Power Rajasthan Pvt. Ltd. in New Delhi, India. The Ex-Im Bank is also giving a $9.2 million loan to Abound Solar Inc. to export solar modules to Punj Lloyd Power Project in India.



First Solar will export thin-film photovoltaic modules to Azure Power for the construction of a 5 MW solar project in Rajasthan. Additional suppliers of related equipment include SMA Solar in and Kentucky-based General Cable Corp.


Abound Solar's thin-film PV modules will be used to build a 5 MW solar project near the for Punj Lloyd Solar Power Ltd.


The projects are two of the first utility-scale solar-power plants in under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, which aims to develop more than 20,000 MW of installed solar power by 2022.
