Trinasolar, a global leader in comprehensive solar energy and energy storage solutions, reaffirmed its commitment to the Chilean market by successfully holding TrinaDay On Tour in Santiago on March 18, 2025, at Metropolitan Santiago. The event, which brought together key customers and industry professionals, established itself as a space for strategic dialogue to strengthen collaboration and explore the latest innovations in the sector.
Vicente Walker, Head of Trina Storage for Latin America and the Caribbean, welcomed attendees, highlighting the significant impact the business unit has had during its first year in the country.
“2024 saw exponential growth for energy storage as a comprehensive solution to prevent energy spills and drive the transition to clean energy,” said Walker, emphasizing the importance of being close to our customers: “We believe it is extremely important that our customers stay up-to-date with our technological innovations in modules, trackers, and storage, but without a doubt, we believe it is even more crucial that they feel that Trinasolar is their strategic partner, always present, from the early development of their projects to after-sales support, with comprehensive service. We want them to have the best solutions to achieve their goals.”
In line with the vision of offering cutting-edge solutions, Israel Sánchez, Trinasolar’s Module Product Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean, highlighted the company’s leadership in the global photovoltaic market. Sánchez emphasized that Trinasolar modules are pioneers in the global photovoltaic market, having been recognized for three consecutive years with the KIWA PVEL award and for four years being recognized among the top 10 by the Wood Mackenzie ranking. According to PVTech, they are the only manufacturer ranked AA and AAA in the bankability pyramid.
The expert also provided insight into the future of solar cell technology: “As of 2023, n-type cell production capacity will exceed 50% of the total market, and of that, more than 80% will be TOPCon. As of 2024, 70% will be TOPCon, and in the future, more than 73%.”
Sánchez concluded by emphasizing the importance of direct interaction with clients: “TrinaDay allows us to have a clearer connection with our clients and decision-makers, and gives us the opportunity to understand what’s happening in the industry. It also allows us to make certain adjustments to our strategies to truly provide the effective and comprehensive solutions that the Chilean market needs every year.”
Complementing the comprehensive offering, but from a perspective focused on the solar tracking market, Santiago Ballester, Head of Sales for TrinaTracker for Latin America and the Caribbean, together with Fernando Pinto, Sales Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean, shared the success of the business unit specialized in solar trackers, consolidating itself as one of the three main suppliers in the region.
A highlight of the event was the panel “BESS Consolidation in Chile: What to Expect in 2025 and Beyond,” which featured leading experts from the national energy industry: Carlos Barría, founder and director of Grid & Zero; Francisco Irarrazabal, lawyer and partner at CEPD Abogados; and Christian Scholz, Development Director at Grupo EnergiE.
The panel addressed key topics for energy storage in Chile, including maximizing the value of batteries in various projects and the current energy context. Francisco Irarrazabal praised Trinasolar’s initiative: “I think it’s extremely important that these types of conversation initiatives exist. I think (Trinasolar) is one of the few companies doing so.” “Today, there’s a lack of information, a lack of knowledge about the main attributes and advantages of battery infrastructure for a cleaner world, where we can better utilize natural resources like the sun and wind, and at the same time, where we can have a secure, reliable, and continuously supplied electricity system.”
“TrinaDay On Tour” is a series of events that Trinasolar organizes in various countries around the world where it operates, with the firm objective of connecting directly with the needs of its customers and potential investors. Through this initiative, the company seeks to showcase the excellence of its technologies, backed by studies that consistently place it at the top of industry rankings, consolidating its leadership and commitment to cutting-edge energy solutions at the regional and global levels.
