Peru grants 100MW solar concession, wind project delayed

Peru’s energy and mines ministry has granted Ecorer a temporary concession for the 100MW Montalvo solar project in the southern region of Moquegua.

Ecorer is a subsidiary of local hydroelectric producer Compa?ía Eléctrica El Platanal (Celepsa) and filed the concession request in January.

The renewable energy developer now has 24 months to carry out feasibility studies for the planned photovoltaic park in the district of Moquegua, Mariscal Nieto province.

Ecorer already holds temporary concessions for wind projects Acarí (40MW), Acarí 2 (50MW) and La Quebrada (100MW)。

The ministry, meanwhile, accepted a force majeure request submitted by Enel Green Power Perú (EGPP) for the 177MW expansion of the 132MW Wayra wind farm.

In its filing, EGPP highlighted supply chain problems of the project components due to a transport strike in Spain and the replacement of bridges Palpa and Viscas in Ica region. These and other factors delayed construction by 374 days, the company said.

The original commercial start-up date had been December 30, 2022, according to information from energy and mining investment regulator Osinergmin, which adds that EGPP sought a postponement to May 2024. Overall advancement reaches 47%.
