GERMAN POWER: Thursday up amid plant outage, drop in wind

German day-ahead power prices were little changed in OTC trading Wednesday as a slight drop in wind power forecast was expected to be offset by a higher solar forecast, a trader said.

But spot prices on the exchange settled firmly above OTC levels on the back of an unplanned power plant outage with some solar forecasts possibly too high, the trader added.

Baseload power for day-ahead delivery was last heard OTC before noon London time at Eur43.40/MWh, just 10 euro cent below Wednesday's price, while day-ahead peakload power was unchanged on the day at Eur44.75/MWh.

However, Epex Spot settled Thursday above OTC at Eur48.11/MWh for base and Eur52.25/MWh for peakload, a day-on-day rise of 30% for the peakload contract.
