Voltalia, an international player in renewable energy, has been chosen by ESB and Bord na Móna as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for their new solar farm in Ireland. ESB and Bord na Móna are two of Ireland’s leading energy providers and have selected Voltalia for their joint-venture project in Timahoe North, Co Kildare. This solar farm will be the first large-scale solar project of their partnership and aims to deliver up to 500 megawatts of solar farms on Bord na Móna lands.

Voltalia’s role as the EPC contractor involves carrying out the engineering, procurement, and construction of the solar farm. The project, known as the Timahoe North Solar Farm, is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2024 and will have an installed capacity of 108 megawatts. This capacity will generate enough energy to power around 61,500 inhabitants, contributing to Ireland’s renewable energy targets for 2030 and providing more green energy to communities and businesses across the country.

CEO of Voltalia, Sébastien Clerc, expressed his excitement about the project and emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting its local partners, Bord na Móna and ESB. Voltalia has been growing its presence in Ireland as a service provider and this project further solidifies its position in the renewable energy sector.

In addition to this project, Voltalia has a strong presence in the renewable energy sector globally. The company produces and sells electricity generated from wind, solar, hydraulic, biomass, and storage facilities that it owns and operates. With over 2.6 gigawatts of generating capacity in operation and under construction, as well as a portfolio of projects under development representing a total capacity of 14.2 gigawatts, Voltalia is a key player in the industry.

Voltalia not only focuses on electricity generation but also provides services to support investors in renewable energy projects throughout all phases, from design to operation and maintenance. The company offers a comprehensive range of solutions to private companies, including the supply of green electricity, energy efficiency services, and even the local production of their own electricity.

With over 1,550 employees and a presence in 20 countries across three continents, Voltalia is able to serve clients worldwide. The company is listed on the regulated market of Euronext Paris and is part of the SBF 120, Enternext Tech 40, and CAC Mid & Small indices. It is also included in the Ga?a-Index, which recognizes socially responsible midcaps.

Overall, the selection of Voltalia as the EPC contractor for the 108-megawatt solar farm in Ireland is a significant step towards the country’s renewable energy goals. The project will not only increase Ireland’s solar energy capacity but also contribute to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development.
