HOHHOT, Oct. 11, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) — With 3 million KW wind power capacity, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, an important energy base in North China, ranks top on the list of nation's capacity of installed wind power.
Official statistics show that the wind power capacity in 2007 increased by 175 percent over the previous year, and 142 percent in 2008.
The proportion of the renewable energy source obviously improved in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.In 2008, 4.14 billion KWH of electricity was generated from wind and helped Inner Mongolia save 1.45 million tons of coal and reduce emission of 3.788 billion tons of carbon dioxide and 27 tons of sulfur dioxide.
