Clenergy International, a manufacturer of PV mounting products, and CGN Solar Energy, a Chinese solar power provider, have signed an investment and development agreement for several projects in Lijiang, China.
As part of the plans, the two companies will work with the Lijiang government to execute the proposed projects and invest a total of RMB3.9 billion (US$630.5 million). In total, the projects will have a combined capacity of 300MW and are slated to complete by the end of 2015. Clenergy and CGN Solar Energy will support the Lijiang government’s solar energy plans outlined for 2013 to 2020 which include bringing advanced solar technologies to Lijiang and promoting solar applications in its residential and BIPV markets.
According to Clenergy, Lijiang is an ideal area for the development of solar energy because of its low-latitude and high-altitude location in southwest China. Furthermore, the city receives an annual average of 2,530 hours of sunshine and has a relatively sophisticated infrastructure. The 300MW project will represent Clenergy’s first solar project in south-west China and will help boost the local economy by creating job opportunities, the companies said.
