Vietnam plans to produce biofuels to meet energy demand amid concern oil prices will rise, Vietnam News said, citing Nguyen Kim Son, director of the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development.
The Southeast Asian nation plans to produce 250,000 tons of ethanol and vegetable oil by 2015, Son reportedly said.
Vietnam's average annual imports of between 15 and 17 million tons of oil will not be sufficient for domestic consumption, Vietnam News said, citing Son.
