HD Hyundai Energy Solutions, a solar subsidiary of HD Hyundai, announced on May 22 that they have signed a contract with Portugal’s MCA to supply 22 MW of solar modules.
Under this contract, HD Hyundai Energy Solutions will supply high-output 500 W modules by August of this year and MCA plans to use these products in the Bailundo and Kuito power plant construction projects ordered by the Angolan government.
The 22 MW order is substantial enough to meet the electricity demand of 140,000 residents in Angola. These modules, capable of absorbing solar energy not only from the front but also the back, are noteworthy for having over 30% higher power generation compared to conventional modules.
This project marks the first time HD Hyundai Energy Solutions has supplied its products to Africa. Looking ahead, HD Hyundai Energy Solutions plans to participate in the bidding for a large-scale solar project of 300 MW scheduled to start in Angola in the first half of 2024.
