SHANGHAI, China, May 28, 2020- Heraeus Photovoltaics, a leading technology solution provider for the renewable energy industry, is now offering its module efficiency-boosting Selectively Coated Ribbons (SCRibbonTM) through YourBest, its manufacturing and distribution partner for the Asia Pacific region. Under the agreement, YourBest will handle the manufacturing and sales of this Heraeus technology for the Asia-Pacific market, which will include Mainland China, Taiwan China, Korea, and other markets in the region. Heraeus Photovoltaics will manage its Intellectual Property for SCR and provide ongoing R&D and technical support.
PV ribbons play an important role in the manufacture of solar modules, interconnecting the cells together to a string that is placed inside the module. With its unique design, Heraeus SCR represents a breakthrough in interconnecting PV cells. While traditional PV ribbons typically have a solder coating on them, the Heraeus SCR is a tabbing ribbon designed with stripes of highly – reflective materials with special product design. For solar module manufacturers, SCR provides a “plug and play” solution that easily integrates into their existing manufacturing process without requiring any additional equipment. The new design delivers significant improvements in functionality and performance, namely:
- Up to 0.7% power gain under standard test conditions(STC)
- Field test displays 2.1% additional energy yield
- Compatible with all stringer machines
- Excellent reliability and outdoor performance
- Versatility to work on conventional module designs as well as modules made with half-cut cells and bifacial modules
