The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited global bids for setting up an aggregate 2500 MW of interstate transmission system (ISTS) connected solar projects at Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park in Koppal District of Karanataka.

SECI shall enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful bidder for a period of 25 years. Power procured by SECI has been provisioned to be sold to the different buying utilities of India.

The selection of solar projects will be technology agnostic within PV technology, meaning technologies like crystalline silicon or thin film with or without trackers may be used.

Capacity offered

Bids must be made for projects of minimum 50 MW in size. The total capacity of solar projects that can be allocated to a developer is 2500 MW.

The bidder may, however, set up the cumulative project capacity at a single location, or configure the ‘project’ as sub-divided into a number of ‘blocks,’ set up at multiple locations within the Solar Park, if required.

The minimum voltage level for a single block shall be 66 kV.  A single tariff shall be quoted by the bidder, irrespective of the number of projects and each project configuration.

Commissioning period

The full capacity of the project must be commissioned within 15 months from the effective date of the PPA. The declared annual capacity utilization factor shall in no case be less than 17%.
