The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority is seeking proposals for large solar projects that would receive support from a $107 million expansion of the state's solar initiative.
The program is an extension of a two-year program that supported projects in New York City and the surrounding areas. The new program will be available in all regions of the state.
Under what is now called the NY-Sun Competitive PV Program, $36.4 million will be available in 2012 and $70 million in 2013.
Large commercial and industrial customers are eligible to apply for the funding, which is capped at $3 million/project.
Proposals for the first round of projects are due November 8. Proposals for a second competitive round will be due at the end of the first quarter of 2013 and the third round will be due at the end of the third quarter, Governor Andrew Cuomo's office said Thursday.
On Wednesday, Cuomo said $30 million had been awarded to 16 developers to help finance 34 MW of large-scale solar projects at multiple sites in New York City and the lower Hudson Valley. The awards were made under the initial two-year solar program for projects in and around New York City.
