Taiwanese welcome renewable energy initiatives in St. Kitts and Nevis

The official groundbreaking for a five-acre Solar Farm was highlighted as a significant moment for St. Kitts and Nevis as this project demonstrates the country’s willingness to develop renewable energy.
Lucas Chiu, General Manager of Speedtech Energy Co. Ltd in Taiwan, expressed gratitude to the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan) for allowing his company this opportunity.

“Speedtech Energy was honored to attend the bid and won it for the one million mega watt Solar Power Farm Project,” General Manager Chiu stated. “Regarding this one mega watt solar project, we offer 25 years warranty of our Solar Panel.”

Lucas stressed that his company will follow through with this plan to execute the project very seriously and carefully in order to see it completed.

“We are all keenly aware that renewable energy is globally a trend setter, where all countries around the world are facing the trend challenge of carbon emission and the climate change." Resident Ambassador, His Excellency Miguel Tsao said. “This gives us the opportunity to capitalize on renewable energy.”

Ambassador Tsao further noted that the twin island Federation is on the right track to a green country. He said without the hard work and dedication, determination and guidance of Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, and officials in the Ministry of Energy, St. Christopher Air and Sea Port Authority (SCASPA), St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC) and Speedtech the one mega watt farm would not have been a reality.

Ambassador Tsao stated that this project combines renewable energy with tourism. He said the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan) share the commitment, responsibility and budget.
