Independent power producer Linea Energy announced on Friday it has taken possession of a 490-MW DC solar project in Texas from Britain’s Horus Energy, thus marking its entity into the South Central US state.
The project, called Duffy, is expected to result in the production of green power that will be equal to the electricity consumption of more than 63,000 homes per year. Recently-established Linea did not provide the value of the acquisition but said it intends to explore the possibility of using domestic equipment to support local industries and economies.
Specific details about the project and its construction timeline were not available.
The purchase is aligned with Linea’s plan to grow its development pipeline in the Houston area and promote environmental sustainability. “Despite recent legislative challenges to the renewable energy sector in Texas, we expect Texas to remain a vanguard of smart renewable policy that brings costs to consumers down, drives investment in the state and ensures the lights stay on,” said CEO Cassidy DeLine.
San Francisco, California-based Linea is involved in the development, construction, and operation of utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects.
