Enel Green Power Unit Buys Wind Facility in Greece

Enel SpA, Italy’s largest utility, said its Green Power unit bought a wind park in Greece that can generate 18.9 megawatts of electricity.

Enel purchased the wind farm from a “local developer,” the Rome-based company said in an e-mailed statement, without giving the financial details. The acquisition brings total installed capacity in the country to 127 megawatts, Enel said.

The Italian company is preparing to sell a stake in the renewable-energy unit as part of its plan to reduce debt. Chief Executive Officer Fulvio Conti told reporters in Milan today that the utility is “evaluating about a dozen offers” to purchase a take in Enel Green Power.

“We will define a procedure to sell a Green Power” stake by the end of the summer, Conti said.

Green Power currently manages 500 plants with installed capacity of 4,500 megawatts in 13 countries.
