Philippines OKs Canlaon Alco Green Agro ethanol project

In the Philippines, the Board of Investments has approved Canlaon Alco Green Agro's bioethanol plant to be built in Bago.  Canloan will invest P5.192 billion in the facility, which they expect to have a capacity of 52.2 million liters per year, and employing 160 people.  Canlaon plans to have the plant operational in December of 2012.  The BOI approval of the facility gives it pioneer status, and it will enjoy a 6 year income tax holiday.

The plant will coproduce carbon dioxide which will be sold to beverage companies for use in their products.  The Sugar Regulatory Authority has certified a 2,302 hectare sugar plantation in Bago as the production area for the facility.
