A DuPont-Danisco plant that will produce cellulosic ethanol and create jobs in Story or Webster counties was awarded a $9 million grant Wednesday by the Iowa Power Fund Board.
Final site selection for the $235 million commercial-scale demonstration biorefinery is expected to be announced by early summer.
DuPont-Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol LLC will match the Iowa Power Fund grant with $226 million in cash to construct the state-of-the-art plant, which will create 60 full-time jobs. The facility, which will be capable of producing 25 million gallons per year from corn stover, must retain 60 full-time equivalent jobs for six years after the plant is completed.
DuPont-Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol expects the plant to begin operating in March 2014.
