Clenergen Corporation announced today that the Philippine National Power Corporation (NPC) is forging the establishment of a Joint Alternative Energy Training Institute dedicated to provide Clenergen with the required expertise to facilitate the training of local workers in the establishment of its biomass and related power systems in Africa and the Asia Pacific Basin In the Philippines alone there is earmarked 174MW/h of renewable energy projects and projected 158MW/h in India and Ghana over the next two years.
Under a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed June 9, 2010 in Manila, Clenergen plans to utilize the highly skilled and experienced human assets of NPC initially to support its global drive to install and operate medium sized biomass power-plants in the 1 – 50MW/e range.
The Institute is aimed at producing a sustainable source of highly skilled manpower on a global scale to support biomass-based projects, including agronomy expertise (Biotechnology, Microbiology and Plantation Management). The initial seat of the Institute is in the Philippines with NPC as hosting entity. NPC approved employees will be trained in Gasification, Combustion Steam, Pyrolysis and Pelletization by Clenergen's approved technology supplies, along with the application of Polyploidisation, Biotechnology and Microbiology by a team of 30 scientists that comprise the Scientific Board of Advisors.
The main focus of the training infrastructure application is in Africa where Clenergen is preparing to build and operate plants and train local engineers and scientists to operate the biomass power plants and energy crop plantations. More projects are also in the "pipeline" for the Philippines, and India.
The Philippines is currently the showcase for island power plants with the NPC with installations commencing within the next 12 months.
Mark Quinn said "this MOA is designed to match Clenergen's increasing need for an increase in skilled and competent manpower to help train the local people to deliver on its energy projects on a much shorter horizon. With agreements for 332MW/h of Biomass power plants and projected cultivation of 32,000 acres of land, this agreement allows for the company to ramp up to meet the needs of our projects throughout the regions of operation."
NPC president Tampinco said "NPC was formed in 1936 and has all the trained personnel that can meet the global requirements of Clenergen and is open to forging the required corporate vehicle to the required training resources to their projects and will provide 15 secured Power Purchase Agreements to guarantee the purchase of electricity produced".
