China will press ahead with nuclear power plants in landlocked areas and develop a nuclear power belt in central and eastern China.According to Mr Wu Yin deputy head of the National Energy Administration the new energy plan for the 12th Five Year Plan period will prioritize new energy and renewable energy.
The new energy plan will, revolving around China commitment to energy cut, restrict fossil fuel and promote renewable energy. China will make strenuous efforts to start or complete construction of a slew of hydroelectric and wind power plants from 2011 to 2015.
According to nuclear power plan, China will apply mature and advanced nuclear power technology in seaboard areas such as Liaoning, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Fujian. Furthermore, central and landlocked provinces including Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei and Anhui will launch nuclear power projects. Finally China will foster a nuclear power belt in central and eastern areas.
