DELMARVA POWER: Delaware wind power project given green light

DOVER — A bill clearing the way for development of an offshore wind farm has been unanimously approved by the Delaware legislature and signed by the governor.

The bill signed by Governor Ruth Ann Minner on Wednesday endorses the terms of an agreement between Delmarva Power and wind farm developer Bluewater Wind.

The legislation directs that the costs of Delmarva’ power purchase agreement with Bluewater Wind be spread among all Delmarva Power’s customers.

It also sets up a system for renewable energy credits that constitute the financial linchpin for building what could become the nation’s first offshore wind farm.
