Denmark-based Vestas has received an order for 61 wind turbines with a total capacity of 112MW for four projects in Spain.
The order comprises 49 units of its V90-1.8MW and 12 units of its V90-2MW wind turbines.
The order also includes supply, installation, a VestasOnline Business supervisory control and data acquisition system, as well as a five-year service and availability contract.
Delivery and commissioning of the wind turbines is scheduled to start in 2009. The four wind power plants will provide enough electricity to power more than 58,700 Spanish households and save the environment from more than 157,000 tons of CO2 per year.
Juan Araluce, president of Vestas Mediterranean, said: "We are very pleased with the strong commitment to wind energy in Spain. This contract confirms the success of the V90-2MW and the V90-1.8MW wind turbines on the Spanish market, where Vestas had a total installed wind capacity of 1,996MW as of December 31, 2007."
