New Energy Equity and CleanChoice Energy are planning a 6.8-MW community solar project in New York that will begin construction in 2022. The McCormick Community Solar Garden will be located in Andover.
“CleanChoice has an excellent track record as a New York developer, as well as a leading subscription aggregator. New Energy Equity is thrilled to partner with them in developing this solar garden for the Village of Andover,” said Matt Hankey, president, co-founder and CEO of New Energy Equity. “We look forward to having a long and successful relationship with CleanChoice and working together to bring great solar projects to New York communities.”
The McCormick Community Solar Garden site is situated in a floodplain and requires special flood sensing technology to stow the panels horizontally in the event of a flood. The energy generated by the solar garden will provide local subscribers the opportunity to use clean solar energy while decreasing their energy costs.
“Community solar is critical to expanding access to clean energy — and we’re thrilled to be working with New Energy Equity to deliver the benefits of solar to the community,” said Tom Matzzie, CEO and founder of CleanChoice Energy. “CleanChoice is dedicated to making the switch to clean easier for everyone. The McCormick Community Solar Garden is a great step towards that goal.”
