IKEA has started to sell solar panels in Australia and the good news is you won’t have to battle with flat-pack instructions – it comes with installation included.
The Swedish furniture giant has partnered with Australian renewable energy company Solargain to produce and instal the panels at a significant discount to consumers.
A SOLSTRÅLE system will cost between $3,500-$7,000 depending on the size of the system and the government incentives and rebates available in each state.
A basic 6.6kW system includes eight, 370 W solar panels, an inverter, the mounting system and full installation by Clean Energy Council accredited installers.
In Victoria, this will cost $3227.
The same package costs $4530 in NSW, $4634 in Queensland, $4005 in Western Australia, $4632 in South Australia and $4986 in the ACT.
The IKEA solar panels come with a guarantee for the system to produce at least 80 per cent of what was quoted in a customer’s initial estimate, for a period of five years.
You can also upgrade your system to include a lithium battery.
WA, Queensland and Victoria residents will have access to the new SOLSTRÅLE solar panels from June 10, with other states expected to follow soon after.
“We hope that this will encourage our customers to live a more sustainable everyday life by removing the barriers to investing in renewable energy,” said IKEA CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer, Jan Gardberg.
