On January 6, the National Energy Administration held the power planning work initial meeting of the 14th Five-Year Plan in Beijing, deployed and mobilized the power planning research and preparation work of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Liu Baohua, member of the party leadership group and deputy director of the National Energy Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting pointed out that the 14th five-year plan period will be the first five-year planing period after China completes the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and starts a new journey of “two fifteen-year goals” to build China into a great modern country in all respects. It will be a crucial period to fully implement the requirements for high-quality development and deepen the revolution in energy production and consumption. All departments in charge of the regional energy, related electric power enterprises, consulting institutions and universities should fully implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, attaches great importance to the planning formulation of the 14th five-year plan, accurately grasp the direction of the research on problems of electric power development planning, strengthen overall coordination, completes the work deployment and effectively work out and implement power planning.
The meeting called for electric power development plan of the 14th five-year plan to focus on improving power security capability, promoting power supply side structural reform, focusing on fully mobilizing demand side response resources, reasonably promoting the planning and construction of supporting basic power supply projects and improving the grid structure.
The meeting stressed that 2020 is a transition period between the two five-year plans, and that great attention should be paid to the completion of the 13th five-year plan and the planning compilation of the 14th five-year plan.
At the meeting, representatives of 10 units, including local energy departments, power enterprises, consulting institutions and universities, exchange views.
Officials from 81 institutions including the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration, provincial energy departments, some central energy and power enterprises, consulting institutions and universities attended the meeting.
