European Commission Investigates Chinese Solar Glass Production

After receiving sufficient evidence that Chinese solar glass producers may be dumping their products in the European Union at below market value, the European Commission launched an investigation, according to a Reuters report.

The Reuters report cites last month's complaint from EU ProSun Glass group, led by EU sector leader GMB of Germany, in response to a four-fold increase of Chinese exports to the EU in four years. The complaint said China's share of the EU market is now 25 percent to 30 percent.

EU anti-dumping investigations last up to 15 months, and the Commission can impose provisional import duties within the first nine months. EU member states vote on whether to set definitive duties, which typically last five years, according to the report.
