China Sunergy’s leaders distinguished with the Advance Global Australian Awards

PV manufacturer China Sunergy’s chief technology officer and vice president have jointly received an award given to high-profile Australians working overseas.

CTO Jianhua Zhao, and vice president and head of research Aihua Wan are the first Chinese-Australians to receive the Advance Global Australian Award, run by the Australian government and the Australian Financial Review.

Zhao and Wang won the clean technology field in the award, which aims to recognise the work done by the million Australians working abroad.

During the ceremony, a second award, the Asian Century Award was given to Zhao and Wang for their contribution in the Asia region.

Zhao and Wang set the world record for the highest lab efficiency of solar cells globally in 1989. They broke their own record several times most recently achieving a 25.0% lab efficiency.

Lu Tingxiu, China Sunergy’s chairman said: "We are excited and happy for the couple to receive this award, which is an important recognition for their contributions to drive solar technology forward. We are proud of their contributions to the industry as well as to China Sunergy.

“As co-founders of China Sunergy, they have shaped the company's advanced technology and allowed us to provide customers with efficient and cost-effective products. We remain heavily committed to research and technological innovation under their leadership."
