Vestas secures 50MW order in China

Vestas has received an order from wind energy developer Longyuan to supply 25 turbines which have a total capacity of 50MW.

The V90-2.0 MW turbines will be installed at Qiulu wind farm near Putian in China's Fujian province.

Vestas China president Jens Tommerup said the company is increasingly considering special solutions as the wind energy industry in China is gradually becoming more sophisticated.

"Apart from providing reliable high quality wind turbines, we also need to design and provide tailor-made solutions to meet our customers' needs," said Tommerup.

The V90-2.0 MW turbine delivers high output under low-wind conditions and is able to withstand occasional strong gusts.

Vestas equipped the turbines with power backup, thereby reducing risks of possible damages to the equipment.

Following the completion of the project, Vestas will have an installed base of more than 450 MW in the province.

Last year, the company won orders amounting to more than 100MW from the Fujian province out of a total order intake of nearly 800MW for all of China.
